GASTRONOMY

The Bulgarian traditional kitchen is characterized for its flavouring, which foreigners like, although it is specific. For Bulgaria a typical meal consist of salads, grilled or prepared on ember meat, with side dish of fresh vegetables, or meals in earthenware pots prepared on a low flame with a big variety of ingredients, the cold cuts with a lot of flavouring and aromatic herbs that make the flavour really irresistible. The most representative Bulgarian products are yoghurt, which has curative characteristics, and cheese, that has two forms in Bulgaria: the kashkaval and the sirene, which is the most traditional. Other very specific products are brandies, which, traditionally, accompany the salad as an appetizer. Afterwards, the main dish is accompanied by wines, especially the red ones that are world famous.
